PHILIP ANSELMO, EYEHATEGOD Members Featured In 'Slow Southern Steel' Documentary
August 27, 2009Members of DOWN and EYEHATEGOD are among the musicians who featured in "Slow Southern Steel", an upcoming documentary focusing on southern metal bands.
A two-minute trailer for the film, which is being helmed by Karim Khan of I'm Better Than Everyone Records and C.T. of RWAKE, can be viewed below.
In a March 2009 interview with StonerRock.com, Khan stated about the documentary, "It's going to be footage of bands and interviews. Everyone's being asked the same types of questions, real general, open-ended stuff about what it's like growing up in the South and their experiences. It's really open-ended so people are giving us a lot of stuff. One of the questions is about life in the Bible Belt in the South, as well as stories about childhoods, first shows, and early influences. I've only been there for about 25 percent of the filming. All in all, it'll be about an hour-and-a-half movie."
When asked if there were any difficulties with putting together the documentary, Karim replied, "It's coming along. I've never made a movie, never produced one, so this is brand new to me. Everything seems to be going great. Honestly… well, there are a couple of things. Some of the bands aren't used to getting interviewed and once the cameras were off, that's when the crazy stories started. You wish they would have said that with the tape rolling."
